Our Yours For Good collection is a destination for more responsibly sourced fabrics made up of stylish wardrobe essentials that are designed to last. The collection uses fabrics such as responsibly sourced and organic cotton, polyester made from plastic bottles and more responsibly sourced Viscose LenzingTM Eco VeroTM.
This is the start of our journey as we look to improve and prioritise introducing more responsibly sourced product.
SUSTAINABILITY PILLARS
RESPONSIBLY SOURCED
Cotton: By using more responsibly sourced cotton we are continuously working on the improvement of the damaging environmental and social impacts of growing cotton. This includes crop protection with pest management, creating sustainable livelihoods for farmers and building resilience for effects of climate change.
Viscose: We use a fibre called LenzingTM Eco VeroTM which is made from natural sources such as wood pulp from responsibly managed forests. This responsible process uses at least 50% less water and emits at least 50% less CO2 compared to generic viscose fibres.
RECYCLED
Recycled polyester: Recycled polyester is a more sustainable alternative to conventional polyester. Recycled polyester is made by melting down existing plastics and spinning into a fibre. This is a great way of diverting waste that could potentially end up in landfill or in our oceans. Sourcing recycled polyester through brands such as RepreveTM gives a second life to waste such as fishing nets and plastic bottles. This is certified by either the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) or Recycle Claim Standard (RCS).
Recycled packaging: Our mailing bags are made from 100% recycled materials and are 100% recyclable. In stores we have recently converted all plastic carrier bags to recycled and recyclable paper. Our polybags now contain a minimum of 30% recycled material and are recyclable. Our swing tags are FSC certified and our satin care labels are made of a minimum of 30% recycled polyester.
ORGANIC
Organic cotton uses 91% less water than conventional cotton and is grown without the use of harmful pesticides or fertilisers. This is certified by either the Organic Cotton Standard (OCS) or Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Organic cotton currently represents a small part of the cotton growth on the planet, which means it is in high demand and therefore represents a small part of our fibre mix.
SMALL STEPS, BIG CHANGE
We use LED lighting across our stores, head office, and warehouse, which are 80% more efficient than regular light bulbs.
A small percentage of unsellable returned garments is donated to New Life, a charity supporting disabled children.
Our efforts also include funding disability equipment for families, supporting dental health education, and providing emergency household funds in partnership with Barnardo’s. We will continue to work with our local communities on opportunities to improve the lives of families in need.
