Tess Holliday, book, plus-size, blogger, model, self-love, the not so subtle art of being a fat girl, tattoos

In line with Tess Holliday’s book release today, she has given us 10 exclusive tips for body confidence.

If you don’t already know Tess is a plus-size model, make-up artist, blogger & activist based in L.A. She is not only a full-time model but an ambassador for women empowerment. Her first book, The Not so Subtle Art of Being a Fat Girl highlights Tess’s passionate plea for modern women, whoever they are, to be comfortable in their own skin. She also shares her personal journey and provides inspiration and tips for everyone struggling with their body image to overcome it and love themselves

1. CELEBRATE YOUR BODY

Focus on the things you love about yourself.

2. IF YOU FEEL GREAT, YOU’LL LOOK GREAT

Be kind to yourself, look after your body & soul the way you see fit.

3. BE MORE MINDFUL

If you’re feeling anxious or low, why not try and make some extra time for yourself every day – take 15 minutes when you can to shut yourself off from any negative thoughts, close your eyes and relax, focusing on all the things that make you happy and that you’re looking forward to.

4. BEAUTY ISN’T PERFECT

There’s no such thing as perfect. We are all beautiful and everyone is different inside and out. It’s time to stop comparing yourself to others.

5. DITCH THE SCALES

Because no-one should have to worry about weighing themselves every day. Forget the scales this summer.

6. WEAR CLOTHES YOU LOVE

Screw the trends and wear what makes you feel good.

7. TREAT YOURSELF

Do something that makes you happy – whether it’s spending time with your family, getting a massage, or watching Netflix all day.

8. LEARN TO ACCEPT COMPLIMENTS

If your friends say you look great, it’s because you look great. Don’t be tempted to play it down, just say thanks! Above all, as long as you feel great, that’s all that matters anyway.

9. SELF LOVE

Even if you’re having a bad day, always remember to love yourself… like RuPaul says, “If you don’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?”
